Clay Christmas Ornaments- made by kids!

Slightly late for the season, but... I am lucky that my kids' elementary teachers are so nice and let me come in and create art projects to do with the kids. Below are my son's kindergarten class and my daughter's 3rd grade class Christmas clay ornaments. (The kids cut them out, dried them, fired in the kiln, then painted & Mod Podged for protection)

We finished these just in the nick of time!

Love this blue bird!

Don't judge me- my first "clay" class! A few ceramic projects to share...

Just before you judge me for the "cave man" appearance of most of my ceramics, just know I enjoyed it, AND this is the first time that I've played with clay!

*I took a community ceramics weekly night class at BYU-I with my friend K. We had an amazing teacher who is both a sculpture and potter (I think those are the correct terms).

We mostly experimented with hand building. Towards the end I threw a few bowls on the wheel...

HAND BUILDING
My first coil bowl...

A slab tray that I rolled over with a real wood log (lost the wood texture when I over-glazed)

You're going to start to notice a repeat of patterns & colors!

Leafy butter dish slabs...

THROWN ON THE WHEEL
Some of the only bowls that survived the wheel...

Okay, so I didn't throw these two bowls. My teacher was nice enough to trade my art cards for these bowls. He threw them both on the wheel in minutes. Amazing! I did trim and glaze them though. Hey, I just wanted nice bowls!

I really enjoyed learning and playing with clay... It has been an exciting journey to try something that I wouldn't normally do. Maybe another time...

I have a few more projects that I will be posting over the holidays, just have a look :)

Hope you have enjoyed viewing my quirky projects! Most of them are Christmas gifts...No peeking!

Simple Kid Christmas Tree cards with paint, glitter and Mod Podge! - Winter Art Class

Little C painted Christmas tree cards, with a little help... First time drawing a tree!
(age 3)

Brush Mod Podge over the sparkles so they won't fall off the card. No more sparkle mess all over the house. Love Mod Podge!

Make your own cards and presents!

Have Merry Christmas!

Clay snowmen and animals... acrylic and glitter!!! - Winter Art Class

I loved seeing what the kids created.
They are so clever! Playing with clay is so much fun...

Thanksgiving with Family in Montana... beauty eh?

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We headed with my Hubby, and our 3 kids, Papa (Grandma stayed home for R & R), and my lil' sis to Kallispell, MT, to have Thanksgiving with family. We were pleasantly surprised with...
(all taken with a phone camera, sorry!)

Gorgeous and enormo Flathead Lake...

View of Flathead Lake from the cabin dining room...

Sledding on the wee bit of snow/ice on the mountain top driveway...

An old building on the drive home... I love rustic buildings.

And yes, we made it home safely!
